| While
searching
for the perfect quick release for our project S2000 track
car, we had a few goals that we needed to be satisfied. We
wanted the wheel to be as close to stock distance as it could
be, and still be removable. With the amount of space limited,
almost all quick releases available, when combined with the
require hub for isntallation. Left the wheel too close for
our requirements.
We
discovered Snap:Off system. The Snap:Off system in
available in two version, Street and Race.
Snap:Off
Street The race inspired Snap-Off anti-theft system
allows for the easy, quick release and removal of your car's
steering wheel while parked, rendering your car virtually
impossible to steal. Based on the safe premise that an undriveable
car is a car that can't be stolen, the racing inspired cast
aluminum Snap-Off system allows the driver to stow their steering
wheel in the trunk or hatch, or take it with them when the
car is parked in a less than secure area. For tuning enthusiasts,
the system provides an additional line of defense against
the universally despised car thief. The system works great
as a deterrent as well, since no thief in their right mind
will bother breaking into your car once they see that there
is no steering wheel in there.
The street-legal Street version is meant for regular driving.
Each Snap-Off Street system is unique so no one can break
into your car and snap their steering wheel onto your steering
column and drive away. The quick release mechanism automatically
locks to your car's steering column when you snap it on so
there's no chance of the wheel coming off while you're blasting
down the freeway. The Snap-Off Street is ISO 9001 certified
and TUV approved. Covered by worldwide patent
Snap:Off
Race The Race version is for track and show use only.
It is NOT street-legal. Unlike the Street
version which locks automatically, with the Race version the
two components do not lock together. This is a true "quick-release"
system as used in professional racing. In fact, the Tekniq
Snap-Off system can be found in Lamborghini's competing in
the European Lamborghini GTR Supertrophy Series. Made from
billet aluminum and hard anodized for durability. SFI (Safety
Foundation Inc.) Spec 42.1 certified for use in SCCA, NDRA,
NHRA, NASCAR, IRL, FIA, etc. sanctioned events. Covered by
worldwide patent.
